These terms set out how I work with you. By booking or sending work to Transcriptyin, you agree to them. Please read them, and ask me if anything is unclear.
Effective date to be added when the site goes live.
1. About these terms
Transcriptyin is a transcription and captioning service operated by Yuen Cheng (ABN 92 341 435 277), based in Australia. In these terms, "I" and "me" mean Transcriptyin, and "you" means the client.
2. My services
I provide transcription and captioning services, turning your audio, video, and other recordings into written text or caption files, as agreed with you for each project.
3. Quotes and pricing
I provide a quote before starting work, based on details such as the length of your recording, the audio quality, the type of work, and your turnaround needs. Prices are confirmed in your quote. Transcriptyin is not registered for GST, so no GST is charged.
4. Turnaround times
Any turnaround time I give is an estimate made in good faith, not a guarantee. Timeframes can be affected by the length and quality of your recording and my current workload. If your work is urgent, let me know and I will do my best to help.
5. Audio and recording quality
The quality of your recording affects both the accuracy of the transcript and the time it takes. Very poor, unclear, or heavily overlapping audio may take longer, may cost more, or in rare cases may not be fully transcribable. I will always let you know if there is a problem before continuing.
6. Accuracy
Every transcript and caption file is prepared with genuine care. However, no transcription can be guaranteed to be perfectly accurate, particularly where audio is unclear. You are responsible for checking your completed files before relying on them, and I am not responsible for any decisions made, or actions taken, based on a transcript. Words that cannot be made out are marked as inaudible.
7. Your responsibilities
By sending me a recording, you confirm that you have the right to share it with me, and that anyone who needed to consent to being recorded has done so. You are responsible for the content of the recordings you provide.
8. Payment
A 50% deposit is required before I begin work on your project. The remaining 50% is due within 7 business days of your completed files being delivered. Payment details are shown on your invoice.
9. Confidentiality
- What counts as confidential. Confidential information means any recording, document, file, or material you provide, everything contained within it, and any personal, medical, legal, financial, or business details that come to light during the work.
- My commitment. Your confidential information is used for one purpose only: completing the transcription or captioning work you have requested. It is never sold, shared, published, or disclosed to anyone else, and never used for any other purpose.
- Secure handling. Your information is stored securely while your work is in progress. Completed files are kept for 30 days after delivery, so you have time to download them, and are then permanently and securely deleted, with no chance of recovery. If you would like your files deleted sooner, simply let me know.
- Done by me. Your work is transcribed by me personally. It is not handed to subcontractors or outside parties.
- Only where the law requires. Your information will only ever be disclosed if I am legally required to do so.
- It does not expire. These confidentiality obligations continue to apply even after your project is finished and our working relationship has ended.
10. Keeping and deleting your files
Completed files are kept for 30 days after delivery and then permanently and securely deleted, as set out above and in my Privacy Policy. Please download your files within that time.
11. Cancellations and changes
If you need to cancel or change a project after work has begun, please let me know as soon as possible. Any work already completed up to that point may be charged.
12. Liability
I take great care with your work, but to the extent permitted by law, my liability for any loss connected with my services is limited to the amount you paid for the work in question. I am not liable for indirect or flow-on losses.
13. Ownership
Once your invoice is paid in full, the completed transcript or caption file is yours to use as you wish.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
15. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. The version on this website at the time you send your work is the one that applies.
16. Contact
